THIRASIA

Due to the volcanic origin of the island, the coasts are steepand the accessible beaches very few. You can swim on theblack beach with the crystal clear waters at the settlement ofAghia Irini (Riva) and taste the best food in Thirasia, at“Agistri”. At the beach of Korfos, with its wonderful watersand small rocks for dives, you will enjoy delicious fish at“Kamara”, by the sea, overlooking Santorini.

The island has many hidden beauties for the visitors, especially for those who love walking and exploring. Howabout a walk in the impressive, made of a mixture of volcanicmaterials, caldera of Thirasia? A walk in the settlements ofChora and Manolas, which is built in the “eyebrow” of thecaldera, will make you feel as if time stopped a few decadesago. Narrow alleys, wonderful landscape, two cafes and atavern, the “Panorama”. Hiking from Manolas to ProfitisIlias, with the best view of the island! Pass by Kera, a smallabandoned settlement with cave houses and if you descendsouthwards, you will reach the cape of Tripiti, with theMonastery of the Assumption of the Virgin. At thetraditional settlement of Potamos, you will see the charmingchapels of Aghios Dimitrios and Panagia Giatrissa, whichare famous for their holy icons and decoration. The housesare built on the rock and their courtyards are beautiful. Lastbut not least, I recommend a visit, for a more eerieexperience, in Agrilia. The oldest settlement of the island, uninhabited, with the remains of cave houses and theunique Church of the Presentation of Virgin Mary, whichis considered one of the most beautiful churches of theAegean.

Tip 1: The full moon nights in Thirasia, where the moonrises above the caldera of Santorini, will be unforgettable!

Tip 2: On the island, there is one of the most impressivehotels in the Mediterranean, which is accessible only by seaor by air. It is preferred by many celebrities, who chooseThirasia for its isolation and wild beauty.
