AEGINA

This sweet island of the Saronic Gulf, with the eucalyptus trees by the sea,the energy of the ancient sanctuaries and the famous pistachios and theunique pistachio of Aegina. At the entrance of the port, the all-whitechurch of Ai-Nikolas Thalassinos, welcomes the visitors. A bag ofpistachios in hand and off we go for a ride with the one-horse carriage,to see pictures as if they are taken out of postcards. Boats and fish-taverns, neoclassic buildings and monuments, since Aegina was once thecapital of Greece. The Cathedral and the floating grocery stores atthe sea, a phenomenon unique in Greece. In the alleys you will find cafeswith cool courtyards, galleries and ceramic shops. In the old fish market,you will taste seafood with ouzo while in the tavern "Mpampis" you willtaste fresh fish. Visit the Archaeological Museum, the CapralosMuseum and the Venetian Tower of Markellos, from the 17th century.Discover the Sanctuary of Aphaia which, as they say, together with theTemple of Poseidon in Sounio and the Parthenon, form an imaginaryisosceles triangle, landmark of their energy power. Close your eyes andfeel the scent of pine trees and endless peace.

Ideal destination for hiking and mountaineering excursions, amongancient stone paths. The most historic walk on the island passes throughPaleochora, the “the insular Mystras”, invisible from the sea, due topirates. Walk among the 38 stone churches to reach the top, in thetwin church of Agios Georgios and Agios Dimitrios. The archeological site of Kolona and the majestic church of AgiosNektarios are two more attractions that you will love. How about a visit tothe picturesque fishing village of Perdika? The port, reminiscent of theCyclades, with whitewashed houses and steps drowned in flowers. Divefrom up the rocks and then eat fresh fish in the fish tavern "Nontas" or in"Perdikiotika", a famous bar restaurant.

Tip: At a distance just 10 minutes from here, dive into the green waters ofthe bay of the Moni. A small, uninhabited island, with impressive naturallandscape and wild rabbits, deer and peacocks, which are the permanentresidents of the island.

The beaches are one better than the other, the largest and most famousof them being the beach of Agia Marina with the well-known "Barracuda"beach bar. Agios Vassilios, Vagia, Kalypso and Aeginitissa with theAeginitissa beach bar. Top choice for swimming and all day pleasures. TryMojito Pistachio and if you feel like it, eat fresh fish and fried mussels withpistachio garlic sauce, at the homonymous fish tavern. Marathon with the“Aqua Loca” beach bar and Klima, another popular beach. Portes, twoisolated beaches and the beach of the homonymous settlement ofSouvala, are all you need for relaxation. At all beaches you can do watersports, sailing and underwater fishing.

For "night outs" you will go to the hotspot of the island, the “Ellinikon Seaside” Club or to the “Inn on the beach” on the sea. “Caps Love”, in atraditional Aeginian house stands out for its philosophy of#MakeMemories.
